“Surround yourself with good people” is something that my dad embedded into my brain. He would tell me this constantly while I was growing up and I never really fully understood what he meant by “good.” Who are these “good people?”
I have come to realize that “good people” are uplifting, supportive, positive and non-toxic to your environment. As you get older, friends change, interests change & life goals change. You can always tell who the “good people” are in your life based on their attitude towards your goals and need for personal growth.
Keep those people around!!!!
I am currently at IDEA World 2014, a 4 day conference where over 12,000 fitness professionals from 64 countries get together in the name of fitness & health. This is absolutely amazing because having a common passion with others is extremely powerful and promotes growth & relationship on a common foundation. I have found that conventions like IDEA World give reminders that there are other people out there like yourself, you don’t have to feel worried or uncomfortable about what other people think about your lifestyle– you’re not the only one.
I came to IDEA World last year and it was so informative & I learned SO much. Last years’ experience is what motivated me to come back again! I am now living in Austria, so it definitely wasn’t a short flight to get here in Anaheim, CA– but totally worth it. I cannot stress enough how important and uplifting it feels to learn from and connect with those who have similar dreams and goals in order to get to the next level.
This year I participated in the first ever IDEA World Blog Fest, which was 2 of the 4 days all about fitness and nutrition blogging– HELLLOOO right up my alley. With all of the blogging I do on here and on the Runtastic Blog– I knew I could REALLY benefit from the creative energy, tips, tricks & ideas. I even met up with an old friend from high school that I hadn’t seen in 8 years– I am a big fan of surprises.
“Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and the thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.”
