If you follow me on Instagram and Facebook, you know I was just on an awesome 9 day vacation with my grandparents. They came from the USA to visit me in Austria and I had the pleasure of showing them around Austria and the Czech Republic. I love vacation, I love traveling and I love family time…but it can be a bit of a challenge to stay fit on vacation and make sure you are not completely overdoing it and ruining your hard work.
Now, I am not an overly obsessed fitness addict, but I work hard! I like to stay lean, eat healthy and stay balanced. I like to give tips based on what I do and what works for me 🙂 Here are 4 tips for you to stay fit on vacation while still enjoy yourself and not feeling deprived.
Stay Fit on Vacation with These 4 Tips
- Walk everywhere: Even at the age of 74 and 78, my grandparents were still willing to walk around all over the place with me. We did have to take some breaks here and there and we even did a bus tour, but we managed to make it over 15,000 steps everyday, sometimes even 25,000. Yeah baby!
- Drink tons of water:Â Lots of delicious food, oftentimes high in sodium, can leave your feeling bloated and puffy. Drinking water can help prevent that. Keep a water bottle with you at ALL times. This is especially important when traveling around Europe where water at restaurants is very rarely included.
- Keep up with your workouts: Maybe you’ll get lucky like we did and have a great hotel gym. But, I know that’s not always the case and some hotel gyms can just be a small room with a cardio machine — boooorrring! Start your day off with a 30 minute fat burning HIIT workout or an even shorter 7-minute hotel room workout like this one I did in Budapest.
- Enjoy every minute:Â Don’t stress SO much about your workouts and eating habits that you forget to enjoy yourself. Staying fit on vacation gets easier and easier each time you do it and it’s most important that you live in the moment.
