Believe it or not, this was the first workout I did of 2016! Yes, and it’s January 4th. Aren’t the motivation and crazy goals supposed to kick in on the 1st? Yesterday I walked for 45 minutes while my brother and his friend played frisbee golf, but that’s it. I didn’t do anything crazy on new years, I didn’t eat a bunch of unhealthy food or guzzle down a bunch of alcohol during the holidays that I needed to desperately burn off…but I just needed a break.
I needed a break to lay down, relax, turn off my computer and not spend so much time on my phone. Focus on the positive a little bit more Β and less on the negative. But, 3 days was plenty of time and today’s fat burning cardio workout was awesome! What do you need? Nothing, just yourself and your Runtastic app to track your run. You can also use a timer on your phone or watch if that’s an option for you.
This workout is meant to target the entire body, really get the heart rate up and burn some fat. The cool thing about the Runtastic app is that you can set the voice feedback to go off every 5 minutes (our interval for this workout). If you do not have the app you can set a timer on your phone or just try to pay attention to your phone every now and then to check the time.
Here’s your fat burning cardio workout:
-5 minutes run
-1 minute low plank
-5 minutes run
-1 minute squat
-5 minutes run
-1 minute push-up to side plank
-5 minutes run
-1 minute walking lunges
-5 minutes run
-1 minute low plank (I added a side-to-side toe tap, this is optional)
-5 minutes run
-1 minute squat
Don’t forget to stretch your entire body afterwards π
I actually wrote this workout BEFORE I did it to really make sure I had something written down that I was going to do. This helps when I am feeling a bit lazy and not 100% energized. When I have the workout planned out ahead of time then I am less likely to cut corners or do less reps/sets.
After the run I did a workout from Runtastic Results bodyweight training app. I am on Week 6 of my 12-week plan π Lots of planks and abs in today’s workout. You should join in too π
