Butt-Lifting, Fat-Burning Stair Workout

It’s always great when I have the opportunity to train with another trainer. Of course I am fully capable of kicking my own butt in a workout – but, just like anyone, I need that extra push every now and then.

So today I went to a stair workout that my friend Viktoria was teaching. She’s a fellow fit chick and blogger. I met her last summer during another workout she taught with her friend Mike. And we quickly became friends because we both love working out, living healthy and connecting with others that do the same.

What’s a “Stufenlauf”?

So today was the “Stufenlauf” which, directly translated from German, means “stair run” (in case you didn’t know I am from California but I moved to Austria 3 years ago). And that’s exactly what we did. During this one-hour stair workout we went up and down the stairs 50 times and did bodyweight exercises in between.

Here’s the stairs we did our stair workout on….

So first, check out these killer stairs we did our stair workout on. There’s 48 stairs to be exact…

Here’s the stair workout we did:

Round 1:

50 high knees (right/left counts as 1 rep)

5 times up and down the stairs

50 high knees

Round 2:

45 quick feet on the first step (right/left counts as 1 rep)

5 times up and down the stairs

45 quick feet

Round 3:

40 jumping jacks

5 times up and down the stairs

40 jumping jacks

Round 4:

35 high plank shoulder taps

5 times up and down the stairs

35 high plank shoulder taps

Round 5:

30 sec plank

5 times up and down the stairs

30 sec plank

Round 6:

25 squats

5 times up and down the stairs

25 squats

Round 7:

20 mountain climbers

5 times up and down the stairs

Round 8:

15 tuck jumps

5 times up and down the stairs

Round 9:

10 push-ups

5 times up and down the stairs

10 push-ups

Round 10:

5 triceps dip

5 times up and down the stairs

Wow, I just got tired again from typing this…

It was one of those workouts where you just don’t think – you just do! And once it was over, we were all really proud that we finished (as you can see from our smiles in the photo below).
