Bad days happen to the best of us. Life happens. You get out of sync. You hit a rough patch that seems like it never ends. You start “shoulding” all over the place: “I should be doing this, I should be doing that.” Life becomes… meh. I promise you’re not alone, and you’re not imagining things!
We all have those days where it feels impossible to get back on track. And while there’s no magic cure for bad days, my 4 hacks can help you regain some direction and perspective!
1. Go Back to the Basics
You can’t pour from an empty cup. When you feel like you’re running on empty, go back to the very basics of what makes for a good day: Are you getting enough sleep? Are you drinking enough water? Are you getting enough nutrients?
When I came back from my last content retreat, I was having a meh day. I was tired and out of my normal routine and found it hard to get going again. So I started over with my morning routine: Mindset, Me Time, and Movement. That whole routine brings me back to center every time.
When you’re off track, realign by going back to the most basic things that make up the foundation of a good day.
2. Remember Your Resilience
Take a moment to think about a time when you bounced back from one of your bad days. We’ve all had them. We’ve all powered through bad days and eventually started having good days again.
Remembering that this is a temporary situation can be powerful. It gives us the strength to push forward. You did it once — you can do it again!
3. Find Your Next Best Action
When you’re having one of your bad days, you might be at a loss as to how to “fix” it. There might not be any single thing that will completely transform your day. But you can take the first step by choosing the next best action to take. It might be a baby step, but it’s a step nonetheless.
One of my favorite next best actions: drink water. I took my own advice on this a few weeks ago when I was about to record my next podcast episode. I was feeling spacey, not focused, and knew I needed to do something. So I added a couple drops of lemon essential oil to my water and drank. I felt better almost instantly.
Go for a walk. Get some fresh air. Move your body. These small steps can be powerful in turning your day around.
So think about it: what is the one best thing you can do right now that will improve your current situation, even just a little bit? Think about it, and then do that thing.

4. Connect
Reach out for support. Talk about your bad days. Don’t pretend your day doesn’t suck. Take ownership of it, face it head-on, and get your feelings out.
Everyone has bad days, and connecting with people may help you put yours in perspective. Others can lift you up higher and faster than you may be able to do by yourself. That’s why I LOVE having the amazing guests I’ve had on my podcast because we are able to connect through struggle and triumph! SO INSPIRING!
