It’s one thing to have your perfect morning routine in place when you’re at home, but what about when you’re traveling for business, on vacation or staying somewhere else besides home? Sometimes when we are out of our normal environment, some of our best morning habits can go out the window.
In episode #87 of Self Love & Sweat THE PODCAST, you’ll learn some valuable tips to help you keep your best morning habits and easily make adjustments depending on where you might be!
3M Formula for Your Best Morning Routine & Habits
First let’s talk about my 3M formula to go from madness to magic in the morning! The most successful people in the world all have morning routines or some sort of morning habit that helps them start their day off right!
These 3 M’s are a great place to start:
Mindset
- meditation, prayer, breath work, journaling, mental rehearsal
Movement
- walk, work out, foam roll, dance, yoga dynamic warm up….just get your body moving!
Me time
- Whatever makes you feel like you’re loving on yourself! Maybe this is just enjoying your cup of tea or coffee in peace. Maybe it’s taking a shower and just being present with the water flowing on you.
How long should your morning routine be?
That’s completely up to you and it probably will change depending on how much time you make in the morning. Sometimes 10 minutes will do the trick and sometimes 30-60 minutes is the magic spot. What’s most important to note is: your morning routine is malleable and can (and should!) change depending on your circumstances. We don’t live in a bubble of “perfect circumstances” and as long as you are protecting your time in the morning, the duration doesn’t really matter.
Being flexible is your morning routine super power
Currently I am living bi-coastal in California and North Carolina. At first when I started this transition, I felt frustrated because my normal California morning routine wasn’t really “working” in North Carolina. The time I wake up is different, my work schedule is different because of the time zone difference and the environment I am in (house, bed, etc.) is different.
Instead of being frustrated because something isn’t working, ask yourself what it would be like to be flexible and make adjustments. Instead of focusing on what’s not working, focus on what you can do to make it work! I truly believe that being “stuck in our ways” can be one of the biggest road blocks we need to overcome.
Play a game you can WIN!
This is YOUR morning routine and it’s so much more empowering when you set it up in a way that works for your unique lifestyle. If fitting in an hour workout in the morning just isn’t working, how about 20 minutes instead? If a 20 minute meditation doesn’t work for you first thing, how about 10 intentional deep breaths with your eyes closed and your hands on your heart? The faster you make adjustments and embrace them…the faster you can WIN your morning!
